and CCA Hosted Investment Forum to Opens New Doors of Opportunities in Sudan
The
US Sudanese Business Council (USSBC) in partnership with the Corporate Council
on Africa (CCA) hosted a business and investment forum on Sudan featuring
prominent speakers to promote and support the democratic and economic reforms
in the country following the landmark events of 2019
Sudan
(September 21, 2021) - "We stand with
the people of Sudan. We have robust engagements going forward and some things
coming up that I think will demonstrate our commitment to our relationship and
also to the people of Sudan"
The
opening remarks from Ms. Dana Banks, Senior Director for Africa and Advisor to
President Joe Biden, ushered in a new chapter of cooperation between the two
countries. The event included prominent speakers from the Sudanese government
headed by HE. Dr. Abdalla Hamdok, Prime Minister of Sudan as well as regional
and international business leaders from Visa, Boeing, Lindsay, TDB and many
others.
Following
the recent signing of the U.S. Executive Order removing Sudan from the SSTL, both
the CCA and USSBC deemed it an opportune time to host this event to showcase
the investment opportunities across key sectors in Sudan including, but not
limited to, banking, agribusiness, energy, ICT, infrastructure, and healthcare.
Ahmed Amin, Group President of CTC Group, presented the paper on opportunities
in the agriculture sector.
In
his capacity as Vice Chairman and a founding member of the USSBC, Ahmed Amin
played a pivotal role in bringing together this distinguished panel of guest speakers
from both countries. Mr. Ahmed Abdellatif has long been an active participant
in public and foreign policy issues. In November 2015, CTC Group sponsored and
hosted the first-ever Sudanese private sector-funded US Congressional visit to
Sudan in partnership with the leading US think tank the Humpty Dumpty
Institute. The delegation visited Sudan at the start of the process to
normalise relations between Sudan and the US that led to the lifting of US
sanctions.
